Tim Olson Director of Interactive, KQED San Francisco Tim oversees all Web and Interactive media for KQED San Francisco. He is responsible all KQED produced Web sites including the station site, KQED.org, one of the most trafficked public broadcasting station sites in the nation, and program companion sites such as californiaconnected.org and pbs.org/frontlineworld. Tim is responsible for KQED new media distribution, including streaming and downloadable audio and video. Tim has been a pioneer in public broadcasting's uses of various Internet technologies including "enhanced television," a technology where Web pages are combined with a television broadcast, publishing with blog tools, audio and video podcasting and online original content. Tim produced the enhancements for the world's first cross-platform enhanced broadcast Buffett & Gates On Success. He also developed public television's first 24hour enhanced environment. Tim is a frequent speaker on the conversion of radio, television and the Internet. Tim is active on several industry groups including the Integrated Media Association, PBS Innovation Working Group, and the NPR pilots group. Prior to joining KQED, Tim was Interactive Director for five years at KCTS Seattle. Prior to that, he oversaw all Web operations at WTTW Chicago.
